Types of Projection TV’s

Projection TV’s come in several different technologies. The projection TV is based on the life of the bulb. They can be easily replaced. The types of Projections televisions are:

DLP – Digital light processors uses small mirrors which a spread out in a matrix semiconductor chip. Each mirror represents one pixel. The small mirrors reflect the light through the lens and provide smooth images, good color depth and contrast. The light bulb in the unit has to replace every so often.

LCOS – Liquid Crystal on Silicon creates images using a stationary mirror which is mounted on the surface of the microchip and uses a liquid crystal matrix to control how the light is reflected.

CRT – Cathode ray tube fires electrons from the back of the tube which hit the phosphors.   Once the prospers are hit, the colors are blended to produce a blend of red, blue and green light. CRT is subject to burn-in which creates a ghosting effect on the screen.  The CRT projection TV’s are heavier units than the DLP’s and LCOS.

Whatever the technology, it comes down to which Projection high definition TV has the best image in the consumer’s eye.
