The Sony KDS-R60XBR1 is Sony’s flagship 60” SXRD Projection TV. SXRD stands for Silicon X-tal reflective display which enhances response time of image movement. The SXRD models provide crisp detail and sharpness from an image of over 6m pixels. It also produces an ideal amount of light to produce a bright, vivid picture with fantastic contrast levels.
This Sony projection tv provides a big “Wow” factor when you see it. When you see this in a retail store, they are pushing pure HDTV demos that will turn your eyes away from the plasma or LCD TV’s over to the KDS-R60XBR1. This is a true high definition set that features a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The images from the KDS-R60XBR1 look like they pop out of the screen. A plasma television that is 60” in size would cost as much as two times this Sony projection television.
Sony has outdone themselves when it comes to the casing that the provided on the KDS-R60XBR1. The picture is surrounded by a thick black border with the glass protruding out. What makes this model deceiving, is that the black border makes it seem that it is a flat panel display inside a cabinet. You have to actually go to the back of the TV to see the depth on the XBR. The rest of the casing is in silver and the speakers are mounted on the side, which looks a little funny.

The Sony KDS-R60XBR1 may seem to be on the expensive side for a projection television, but when you compare it with plasma TVs in the 60 inch range, you are dealing with almost half the price of Plasma. Compared to a plasma TV at this size, the unit is much heavier and has more depth space. If you need a 60” display and want a great detailed picture with great contrast and sharpness, look no further than the R60XBR1 model. If you are also a big Sony fan, this model will not disappoint you.
